Need help on reduce the % of CPU usage

Posted by abcd at February 18. 2010

We are facing an issue in one  environment. We are having  total 3 instances .Under each instance different databases are running.

Issue is db2inst2 is consuming 92% CPU usage.Under which XMETA(datastage inbuilt database created by default while installing datastage) is running.

I tried different ways to tune the XMETA database.

1.i did reorgchk.reorg of all tables of XMETA

2.setup Archivallogging .

3.Set up the Activity monitor for XMETA and checking the TOP CPU consuming applications and TOP CPU consuming SQLs .Still i could not found the exact

solution to brought down the % of CPU usage.

NOTE:XMETA is used to store the META data of jobs running on the BCM application.

I need your comments on this issue in order brought down the % of CPU usage .Any other ways we can follow to resolve these kind of issues?

Please, use the db2top -d <dbaname> coomand to find out which are the applications using a huge percentage of CPU.

Verify if you need to create indexes to these statements
