related prune log

Posted by Pawan at May 07. 2008

Hi,

If I configure logarchmeth1 to DISK, the archive logs will accumulate in the directory pointed to by logarchmeth1, right?
So, what is the best way to purge on regular basis the archive logs according to the backup retention I use to manage?

In other words, if I keep a Full backup (+ incrementals ) for 1 week, I will keep the one week archivelogs.
I will have to delete manually (via OS rm command) the archive logs older than 1 week (is there a better way?).
What about the Prune command? do I need to run the PRUNE command to make the repository accurate?

What is the best way to manage archive log history using logarchmeth1 to correctly manage the history repository and the physical files?

Thanks & Regards

Pawan
